Mitchell Park’s staff members take an interest in educating children on the animal and plant worlds.
Stroll through Africa’s oldest surviving botanic garden and marvel at the collections of cycads, orchids, bromeliads and palms.
Mitchell Park has a whole host of small animals and birds for you to visit, including crocodiles, buck, raccoons, cranes, flamingoes, wallabies, monkeys and tortoises. There is a walk-through aviary that allows you to get close-up views of many beautiful bird varieties. A sand-filled playground allows small children to enjoy playing on jungle gyms, swings, slides and other equipment.
Trains run from Kloof station (Stokers Arms) to and from Inchanga station, on the last Sunday of each month.
Walk through the Shark Museum which is home to a variety of life-like replicas of sharks, including a 892kg Great White Shark as well as other marine animals.
