Delivering Soul Music In Abundance Is Durban’s Very Own Zoe The Seed!
It was American singer-songwriter, model, poet and actress, Jill Scott who once said “Soul music is about longevity and reaching and touching people on a human level – and that’s never going to get lost”. These words strongly resonate with the next artist who will take the stage this Sunday at Suncoast’s monthly Sunday Beats sessions.
Swazi born singer and songwriter, Zoe the Seed, will this Sunday unpack her life’s journey of highs and lows through her unique blend of music. A former band member and drummer for the all-female jazz band, Heels Over Head who in 2011 were nominated for the MTN SAMA Awards for best jazz album, Zoe’s music experiments with sounds from soul to jazz classics, reggae, rock and gospel.
“My music is my story, all that I go through in life, I take and turn it into lyrics, which tell my story and bares my emotions, the same emotions that I want the listener to engage with” says Zoe.
A musical product of the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s school of Jazz and Popular Music, Zoe has a Degree in the Performance of Jazz and Popular Music. Her solo career has seen her perform with a band called Unlocked Keys and has performed at many public and private gigs such as the Durban ICC, Zimbali Resort, Hazelmere Dam and Riverts. She has also hosted solo events at venues such as the Jazzy Rainbow, Jazz Centre and the BAT Centre in Durban.
Don’t miss Zoe The Seed perform live at Suncoast’s Sunday Beats this Sunday from 14:00, taking place at the Suncoast Amphitheatre.
